Globally young people are disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic.
The situation is more of a concern among young people who use drugs who are rarely reached through the mainstream HIV response. YouthRISE Nigeria saw this gap in the Nigeria HIV programming and on 13th August 2010 at New Chelsea Hotel, Abuja conveyed the first National Stakeholders meeting tagged “ HIV, Drug Use and Young People: The need for Comprehensive response”. The meeting led to the YouthRISE Nigeria movement which has now become a fast growing institution.
Young people have many unmet sexual reproductive health need. These include access to comprehensive information and tools to live a healthy life. At YouthRISE Nigeria we deliver SRH services to young people who use drugs within the context of HIV programming.
