Drug Policy Reform

YouthRISE Nigeria engages in continuous advocacy for policies prioritizing prevention, harm reduction, and treatment, and providing alternatives to incarceration for people who use drugs. Our advocacy work aims to bring to the fore-front the issues young people including those who use drugs face and champion evidence-based responses.

Policy Advocacy

YouthRISE Nigeria engages in micro-level and macro-level advocacy to advance policies and practices that reduce drug-related harm and promote better health outcomes for young people. Drawing on evidence and global best practices, YouthRISE Nigeria engages stakeholders in dialogue and action regarding promoting public health and the human rights approach to drug control. Critical to this process is the social mobilization of young people, civil society actors, media, and affected communities to participate in the advocacy and policy-making process.

CSOs & Stakeholders
Engagement

YouthRISE Nigeria works with government multi-sectoral stakeholders and technical partners at all levels, and civil society networks to advance human, effective, and evidence-based drug and health policies in Nigeria. In the last decade, we have engaged diverse stakeholders in training and dialogues on the need for evidence-based drug policy. Our advocacy work is focused on driving the National response towards public health rather than criminalization.
